One thing I need to tell you is that the chilling time for the patties before dunking them into the chocolate is crucial. The recipe for these is pretty straightforward. Not quite as much as I love eating these patties though, ha! When I first started, my body was hurting all over… I thought it would take me weeks to start feeling wonderful post workout again, but it only took 3 relatively short runs. People always say how good they feel after a workout and I vaguely remembered that feeling. Getting back to running has been great so far. There is nothing like eating my way through a stack of peppermint patties and knowing that their calories don’t count since I’ll be running later that day. I work out so I can indulge in carbs, chocolate and other sweet things. ‘Cause that’s what it’s really all about. Now that I know the secret, I sure am glad that I started working out again. And once you learn how easy it is to make your own, you will probably ask yourself the same thing I have – why in the world did I wait so long to make these? Prepare yourself to get your mind blown. Whoever came up with the idea for these definitely knew what they were doing. Nothing beats the beautiful contrast between dark chocolate and the beautiful white interior. I wanted my first attempt at making my own peppermint patties to be as close to my favorite version as possible. Now I know I talked about how much I adore the color green in pretty much everything right now, but there’s something I love just a little bit more: York Peppermint Patties. The thought of sitting outside on our deck and soaking up some rays makes me giddy beyond belief. But until then, these peppermint patties will have to do. It also gives me hope knowing that Spring is officially less than 30 days away – can’t wait for green grass, abundant trees, and beautiful flowers to emerge everywhere. I absolutely love it since peppermint is one of my favorite flavors when it comes to the sweet stuff. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, it seems like the internet has been exploding with green and mint-themed desserts.
